Oil Change

As an owner there is nothing better you can do for your vehicle than regular oil changes with the proper oil.

Oil Change

Your engines rotating and moving parts are protected from heat and friction by a thin layer of oil. Imagine all the moving parts such as pistons, valves, and other engine parts moving at high rates of speed under the hood of a car. These components create heat and will wear down the engine dramatically without proper oil lubrication. Since moving parts create friction, without clean and sufficient amount of oil, the friction will cause heat and the engine will overheat.

Furthermore, as time goes on, oil breaks down and turns into sludge. Therefore, you need to do regular oil changes to keep the engine clean and free from dirt particles and the sludge build up. Regular oil changes help maintain engine lubrication, and consequently improve gas mileage.

Without engine lubrication, all the parts in the engine need to work a lot harder than they need to and thus reduce the longevity of your vehicle.

alt textIf the components of your engine are not properly lubricated it can cause the degradation of these components and an increase in friction. This can cause your engine to overheat and cause immense damage to your engine. Without regular oil changes, the oil will turn into sludge and your engine will need to work extra hard to move the parts through the sludge.

Frequently Asked Questions

No it will not. If the Check Engine comes on, it does not mean you need an oil change. It means something else is wrong with the engine but do not panic because we are here. Just bring your vehicle to Corsa Auto and we will take a look.

Your owner's manual will have this information. It may say something like "every 5,000 miles or every 6 months". At Corsa Auto we will give you a little sticker so you know when to get your next oil change.

It is fine if you use different brands but do not use different type (synthetic, conventional).

This is a grading system developed by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). It is for designating the viscosity level of single grade and multigrade motor oils. Since 10W-30 has 2 numbers, this is a multigrad motor oil. Want to know more? Drop by and one of our technicians will be more than happy to discuss details with you.

Synthetic oil is just manufactured oil instead of oil dug up from the ground. It's made to be homogeneous (consistent), and will protect and last longer than conventional oil. Whether you can use synthetic oil depends on several factors but don't fret, we will share the details with you so you know which is better for your vehicle.
